First question of 2013....does my leg look big in this?

Hey there and a very happy 2013 to you all. I wish you all plentiful happiness and lovely crumbly compost and full bellies. And I wish you legs that bend in the correct direction.......and yes I know these legs are longer than my own.

I had a slight peedie incident with a snow drift, on the last day of our lovely holiday in the sunshine, prior to that it was going so well. And, that was before the apres ski! At least I think it was a snow drift - being the size I am, I might have just tumbled into half an inch of snow, I'm a kind of comedic skier, the kind that most folk give a wide berth. I've slightly damaged my knee ligament, I never knew there were so many of them in there to be so tricky.......thankfully the nice consultant explained once we got home.

So, aside looking like half of the bionic woman, life returns to normal in the island homestead. Many family meals cooked over Hogmany and great company enjoyed, now the house returns to quiet, school begins. A new year ahead to plan. The hounds of course are unsympathetic, they did not indulge in the French Alps, and therefore have no interest in any reports of altercations with snowdrifts.

Well I guess the start of mine rules out kneeling and weeding for a while doesn't it?

You see not too bad a start to 2013 after all, no weeding required, I have a bionic leg and two crutches to use as weapons for folk who disagree with me. All positive I'd say.

I hope you year began with less malicious snowdrifts.............

Much joy to us all.

    1. Hoppy new year indeed dreamer - and to you too more happy than hoppy though. Crutches I have discovered have a life of their own and cannot be tamed. They were abandoned shortly after they arrived for fear of the increased injury they might cause me. I think leg surgeon types are on piece rate.

    1. Agreed indeed. I'm not speaking to the knee, currently 3 weeks in and no improvment. Who would have known knee strings would be so tricky.

I kept skiing too - silly balloon that I am, well for about 3 seconds then gave way to my weakness.

Mulching sounds like the way forward as I can't kneel!

  5. Ouch....sounds uncomfortable and painful. Maybe you could use it to incubate a few eggs while limping around the place!

  10. Well, if you WILL go skiing Fay, what do you expect? Nothing would tempt me onto a ski, nor a horse for that matter. I like things with brakes. At least plants are seldom life-threatening.

    1. Um, foxgloves, deadly nightshade....................

To be fair anything that involves sunshine and very good food does get my vote. I use the word ski'ing loosely for manoevering at zero miles an hour on snow.

Horses are tricky beasts indeed and never to be trusted. I'm with you on that.
