Minus 2 gardening - Nothing to see here (Week 2)

Today its seven degrees celsius (44.6oF) and we're sustaining NWN gusting winds of around 60MPH which makes a wind chill drop in temperature down to -2oC (25oF), not quite the gardening weather we'd hoped for in May. I was going to do a 'weekly update in my plot' but Week 2 of plot being planted, nothing to see here. I'm hardly surprises nothing in the garden is really growing. With a week of hail stones erupting in the wee small hours and winds that I'm struggling to walk in, I think I went to be in May and woken up in October. The onion agrees, they are struggling to waken up, the tatties, are sleeping still - thank you very much.
Infact, the only tatties I'm seeing are the ones on my plate, with Haggis (the food NOT the dog) things aren't quite that desperate.

Whilst the calender says May, the vegetables and I are dubious.

Needless to say the wooly hats have not been put away for summer and don't even talk to me about sandals.

  1. I feel for you and understand exactly how you feel. we have the same horrendous weather here in Caithness and I'm seriously worried about the veggies I put out on Sunday when the weather was warm.
Keep those woolly hats and gloves on for the forseeable I say!
Hope it warms up for you soon.

    1. Hey Linda - I'm sure Caithness is just as frozen and windswept as we are. Sunday I was working at the garden show, so missed the sunshine! Wooly hats to the ready, with like Robyn says' sun cream, sandals and a scarf.

Hope it warms up for you soon too!

  2. Holiday packing has been fun - think thermals, sandals, hats, gloves, scarves and shorts and you're about there!

Hope it warms up and calms down a bit for you soon! xx

    1. I think that packing for a holiday in the north west of scotland on an island, does indeed involve all of the above! But there in lies the fun!

  3. We've been forecast hail, sleet and snow for this afternoon ~ maybe that is why the sun is shining?

Our gardens are all behind as well, though not as bad as yours.

    1. I know its crazy Pat inbetween the face lacerating winds, the sun is indeed shining for but a blink. Crazy thing that it is! My onion is trying its hardest to grow, but yes, its really really got alot of catching up to do.
