Compost garden and quiet moments

Despite the cauld wind and the showers and the grey of the past few days and believe me, its a struggle to think its early summer and the folk festival is upon us all. However, the sun has indeed shone brightly during May up here in Orkney. So much so that the hounds and I when visiting 'Womble HQ' after hours, took the time to just sit and enjoy a quick cuppa in the sunshine. Sometimes we do this when we finish work, we have a walk down the shore by the new pier and then we head back and have a cuppa. Just for five minutes. After hours its quiet and peaceful, the sun is shining and the birds above are serenading us. Bliss. No distractions, no real life in the way, we sit a while before we head into the chaos of our family life. I love my family, I really do, but sometimes its mental.
Its not that we don't love our family. But sometimes heading home means getting back into real life, its chores and its charm, whilst welcome, often your life's not 'your own'. So for five minutes, we sit on the step and admire the compost garden with its flowers just coming out, whilst the hounds contentedly search for biscuits. Some fiend lobbed a handful there, moments before the kettle boiled, just to have five minutes peace to have a quiet cuppa.  Dogs and Yard in perfect harmony. Time for a sit and a ponder on life. Just for five, stepping out of my own life.

I went back to my own life, I promise I did.

  1. I know what you mean . We all love our families but it's a merry go round most of the time. You need to step off sometime and take some time for yourself even if only for five mins. It recharges the battery then off you go again.
It looks really peaceful there. I would like to join you for a cup of coffee and a rest.
