OK, I lied.

There is a flower alive and well in my garden, aside the hardy stalwart Alchemilla mollis. Whilst the Nepeta and all of the hardy geraniums are now 'ex-inhabitants' [death by wind and constant drowing, I fear], the Primula's hang on. Whilst Primula denticulata had held its own until the last gales, then was trashed when attempting to flower. Primula japonica (?'Carminea'?) does the business in the shadow of the 'soon to fall down' fence in among the ladies mantle.

Gotta admire that. A flower, alive and bobbing about, in my inhospitable garden. I might need to go for a lie down.

  3. Thanks mr k, having seen your virtual tour, I agree my taxonomy was a bit dodgy. Never believe a car boot sale label.

    Bad botanist (me).
